What This Graph Tells Us
This graph shows us the number of salmon habitat barriers corrected by Skagit County each year.
Why This Measure Matters
State and tribal agencies are beginning to require removal of salmon barriers, this measure allows us to track our progress before more strict requirements are implemented.
What’s the Story?
Skagit County is the home of all 5 species of salmon in the Pacific Northwest, and protecting and restoring their habitat is a goal for the county. Over the years, barriers to salmon streams in the form of undersized culverts and roads have been built and create barriers to salmon migration. The county is committed to working to remove these barriers and create more productive habitat.
