What This Graph Tells Us
This graph shows us the percent of 10th grade students in Skagit County reporting feeling sad or hopeless almost every day for two weeks or more in the last twelve months. The redline reflects the target goal percentage. Data is sourced from the Healthy Youth Survey (HYS) which is a collaborative effort of the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, the Department of Health, the Health Care Authority - Division of Behavioral Health and Recovery, and the Liquor and Cannabis Board.
Why This Measure Matters
This measure reflects youth (Grade 10) with depressive feelings (feeling sad or hopeless) for two weeks or more in a row. Mental health is inextricably linked to our overall health/well-being. It helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
