Below Plan 4.3.d. Adult Mental Health

What This Graph Tells Us

This graph shows us the percentage of adults who report poor mental health over at least 14 days of the last month. Data is sourced from the Washington State Department of Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS). The BRFSS is a yearly survey that measures changes in the health of people in our state.

Data for this measure is collected annually. The next data point is expected Summer 2026 when new survey results will be available and the measure will be updated.

On Target (Green) indicates the actual value is at or below the established target, meaning the measure is meeting or exceeding the goal. Caution (Yellow) indicates the actual value is within 10 percent of the target. Below Plan (Red) indicates the actual value is more than 10 percent above the target, meaning the measure is performing below expectations.

Why This Measure Matters

This measure reflects the share of adults reporting poor mental health for 14 or more days over the last month. Mental health is inextricably linked to our overall health/well-being. It helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make healthy choices.
