On Target 4.1.e. New multi-family units

What This Graph Tells Us

This graph shows us the total number of multifamily housing units in Skagit County compared to the target goal of 500 units (orange bars).

Why This Measure Matters

The tracking of multifamily housing units developed across all Skagit County jurisdictions over time helps to evaluate community wide progress in the creation of multifamily housing stock.

What’s the Story?

The production of new multifamily housing units is key to increasing the availability of housing in Skagit County. Local population and housing data demonstrates a clear gap between the amount of multifamily housing available in Skagit County and the needed housing in our community. Addressing this gap with the ongoing production of new housing units is essential to improving the availability and affordability of housing in Skagit County.

The current target for this measure is 500 multifamily housing units based on local gaps for housing units affordable at or below 80% of Area Median Income. The tracking and targets under this measure will be refined in alignment with the Growth Monitoring Report produced annually by the Skagit Council of Governments and local planning jurisdictions.
